If you haven’t already done so, the deadline is fast approaching – 22nd May 2017.
As you may have already heard that lots of UK music artists are backing Jeremy Corbyn to encourage young people to register to vote in the snap election called by Prime Minister Theresa May being held on 8th June 2017.
The website – Grime4Corbyn is encouraging young people to vote – you can vote for who you ever want!
They are also offering a chance to win tickets to a secret party they are hosting in London, a week before the election itself. Hopefully this party will be featuring some of the artists below! 😀
UK Hip Hop & Grime has anti-establishment history with politics, with Dizzee Rascal rapping “I’m a problem for Anthony Blair” in 2003, to Lethal Bizzle’s Guardian op-ed ‘David Cameron is a donut’ in 2006, to Novelist’s David Cameron-sampling ‘Street Politician’ in 2016.
This is the first time that UK Hip Hop & Grime have come shown support in favour of a particular political party, let alone a particular candidate – Jeremy Corbyn, Leader of the Labour Party.
Other up coming artists, such as MCs AJ Tracey and Big Zuu had tweeted their support for Jeremy Corbyn too.
JME met with Jeremy Corbyn last week to discuss how they could encourage more young 18 -24yr olds to register to vote.
